Mountain Hill College helped me realize my dream of becoming a science teacher. And now that I'm retired, I have time to pursue two rewarding hobbies: astrophysics, and giving back to the college that encouraged me to aim for the stars. I may not be a millionaire, but planned giving has ensured our gifts will last for generations to come — and make a powerful impact.
The School Continues to Give …
… so why not give back in return? We're Mountain Hill grads, as is our daughter, and our grandchildren will likely be Mountain Hill proud as well. That's why we decided to establish a scholarship that's endowed in perpetuity.
A Lesson in Love
Mountain Hill did a lot for me — like provide an exceptional education that led to a rewarding career. It's also where I met Barbara, my wife of 45 years. I'll never forget the day I first saw her, in our American Literature class. And I'll never forget the night she said yes, when I proposed to her in the quad. Now that she's gone, I want to ensure our legacy of love lives on.

The Haynes Millennium Bright Teachers Scholarship
Founded in 2000, The Haynes Millennium is an endowed, full-ride scholarship for underprivileged teenagers who want to pursue an education degree. To date, it has helped more than 50 students — some of whom have gone on to teach in the at-risk neighborhoods from which they came.
The Task-Bryce Center for The Performing Arts
In 2016 your generous gifts, paired with a matching grant from the Acme Prop Company, helped us to replace the aging Smythe Center with a state-of-the-art LEED certified facility that includes a theatre-in-the-round, recital hall, six classrooms, and a sound and lighting design studio.
The Max Smythe Student of the World Exchange Program
Thanks to you, what began as a trial program in 1990 has grown into a full-fledged exchange program that allows students to enrich their educational experience by studying overseas in countries including Great Britain, France, Guatemala, Switzerland, and Italy.
